John Fink Honored as a Transfer Champion by NISTS
CCRC Senior Research Associate John Fink will be awarded the NISTS Transfer Champion–Catalyst Award by the National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students on February 13 at its annual conference in Atlanta.
The award recognizes mid-career professionals who are “game-changers in the transfer field.” Fink has been a major contributor to CCRC’s research on transfer students’ outcomes, as well as best practices for colleges looking to improve transfer and graduation rates. He has also diligently spread knowledge about effective transfer practices through presentations at conferences, statewide workshops, and meetings of transfer professionals across the country.
Fink is one of four transfer champions for 2019. The others are Eboni M. Zamani-Gallaher, the associate dean of the Graduate School at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Paulina Palomino, the dean of student services at East Los Angeles College; and Russell Baker, the vice president for academic affairs at Ivy Tech Community College.
NISTS works to increase access to and attainment of certificate, associate, and baccalaureate credentials by promoting successful transfer and articulation for two-year, community college, and university students. It partners with two- and four-year institutions, state agencies, higher education associations, foundations, and others committed to transfer student success.
