Using State Data to Promote Success by Underserved Community College Students

CCRC collaborated with Jobs for the Future and the National Center for Higher Education Management Systems to help states use data to improve students' college access and attainment.

Student Persistence in Community Colleges

February 2006–June 2010
Through interviews with students and faculty and classroom observations, CCRC researchers examined students’ persistence and leaving processes at two urban community colleges.

Automotive Manufacturing Technical Education Collaborative

July 2008–June 2009
CCRC served as an evaluation partner for AMTEC, a consortium of 25 community colleges and 21 automotive manufacturing and service companies.

Noncredit Community College Workforce Education

May 2006–June 2009
CCRC examined community college noncredit workforce instruction and contract training, reviewing state policies in all 50 states and conducting case studies of 20 community colleges.

Postsecondary Content-Area Reading-Writing Intervention

June 2006–May 2009
CCRC developed and tested a curricular supplement called the Content Comprehension Strategy Intervention with developmental education students at three community colleges.

2008 National Community College Symposium

Hosted by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Vocational and Adult Education, this symposium was focused on improving student transitions at community colleges.

Dual Enrollment Data Systems

CCRC's paper on dual enrollment data systems and research aims to help states and districts think about and develop data systems to evaluate the outcomes of their dual enrollment programs.

The National Science Foundation’s Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Program

CCRC examined the effectiveness of ATE regional centers, which work with community colleges and businesses to improve technological education and help meet local workforce demands.

Developmental Education Student Placement Practices and Success Factors in Connecticut Community Colleges

CCRC partnered with the Connecticut Community College System to study the impact of developmental education policies on student success.

Evaluation of the Achieving College Transitions Now Project

CCRC conducted a three-year study of the implementation of Achieving College Transitions Now (ACT Now!) at Northampton Community College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Evaluation of the IB School Partnership Program

CCRC conducted a study of the implementation of the International Baccalaureate’s (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) at six middle schools around the country.

Postsecondary Achievement of CTE Students in Dual Enrollment

CCRC used student record data to investigate the persistence of dual enrollment students in postsecondary education compared to similar peers who did not participate in dual enrollment.

CCRC analyzed the roles of community colleges, their organizational changes, and how their missions conflicted or complemented one another with regard to college curriculum and operations.

CCRC investigated nurse preparation and the workplace demands of novice nurses, comparing baccalaureate and associate degree programs in nursing.

Learning Through Simulated Information Technology Enterprises

This study evaluated Learning Through Simulated Information Technology Enterprises, a program that offered a simulated business experience to business and information technology students.

Mapping Pathways to Success for Underserved Community College Students
