
Susan Bickerstaff leads research on teaching and learning, developmental education reforms, faculty learning and engagement, and student experiences. She is co-principal investigator on the IES-funded Postsecondary Teaching with Technology Collaborative—a partnership between SRI Education, CCRC, and Achieving the Dream—that is developing and testing the efficacy of tools and practices that college instructors can use to help students strengthen their study habits and skills as online learners. Bickerstaff is also co-principal investigator and leader of implementation research for an evaluation of a toolkit developed by the Regional Education Laboratory (REL) Northwest to help college faculty adopt evidence-based practices for using technology to support student learning. Previously, she worked on projects including Adapting Lesson Study for Community College Mathematics Instruction, Engaging Adjunct Faculty in the Student Success Movement, Scaling Mathematics Pathways, and the CUNY Start Evaluation.
Bickerstaff holds a PhD in reading, writing, and literacy from the University of Pennsylvania, an MS in education from Drexel University, and a BA in community health from Brown University.
