March 2012–August 2016
This project examined multiple aspects of developmental education reforms in the community college systems in North Carolina and Virginia. Both systems embarked on ambitious statewide redesigns of developmental mathematics and English, aiming to reduce the amount of time students spend in remediation while increasing the effectiveness of services. The ASDER research team published analyses on assessment and placement, college math placement and performance, reform implementation, English learning assessment, and additional implementation and outcomes analyses.
This project was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
