The community college is a major site preparing students for nursing careers, an important role at a time of national shortage. However, many of the low-income, racial/ethnic minority students who aspire to associate degrees in nursing display low levels of academic preparedness.
This article reports on a study that compared key variables and outcomes for a cohort of nursing aspirants and all other majors entering the college at the same time. It was also the intent to track the academic progress of the cohort of nursing aspirants over a three-year period.
