Bridging the High School-College Divide

Recent work has focused on the academic linkages (or lack thereof) between high school and college, with a focus on better connecting these parts of the educational system.

In this chapter, Thomas Bailey reviews three dominant strategies—remediation, dual enrollment, and the high school/college alignment movement—citing available research on these approaches and delineating what remains to be learned.

The chapter appears in Helen F. Ladd and Edward B. Fiske (Eds.), Handbook of Research in Education Finance and Policy (2007).
