Soumya Mishra, Senior Research Assistant

Soumya Mishra conducts qualitative and quantitative research on college pathways, college persistence, and student success. Her research interests include comparative higher education finance, federal–state relations, and governance in higher education. Prior to working at CCRC, Mishra worked for two years with the central and state governments in India on the design and implementation of the National Higher Education Mission (RUSA). She also helped technical institutions across India to understand and implement better governance practices through the Technical Education Quality Improvement Program with the World Bank. She hopes to research higher education quality reforms in South Asia in the future.

Mishra is pursuing a PhD in education policy from Columbia University and holds a Bachelor’s of Commerce from Shri Ram College of Commerce (India), an MA in human resources from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (India), and an MA in education policy from Columbia University.
