January 2002–December 2003
This project reviewed what is known about the most common college credit programs for high school students: dual enrollment, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Tech Prep and middle college high schools. These credit-based transition programs (CBTP) were gaining in popularity and expanding their target population beyond high-achieving students, but little was known about whether they are improving outcomes for students.
CCRC reviewed 45 published and unpublished reports, articles, and books on CBTP to classify these programs and ascertain whether they were improving college access and success for a wide range of students.
This study was funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Vocational and Adult Education.
