On June 19, 2008, the Department of Education’s Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) hosted the National Community College Symposium: Improving Student Transitions at Community Colleges. The symposium provided a forum for administrators, policymakers, and researchers to discuss practices that appear to improve student transitions, what needs to be known to validate and refine these practices, and strategies for obtaining this information.
