This journal article discusses two national trends: the decline of median family income and the concentration of income in the top 20% of the population.
The author argues that community colleges must be aware of the impact that these trends will have on the community college student population, and that colleges should prepare by effectively choosing and partnering with occupational programs to prepare students for the changing workforce.
In conclusion, the author calls on community colleges to take part in the national discussion on income and wealth creation and become advocates for their students.
