Doug Slater

Communications Director

Doug Slater oversees editorial and dissemination activities at CCRC.

He holds a BA in physics from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MA in cultural anthropology from Columbia University.

Slater came to CCRC in 2006 with broad experience as a writer/editor in the fields of labor economics policy, advocacy, and curriculum development. He has also participated as a researcher in several social science and education studies.

This set of three studies examines what states and community colleges can do to address the needs of racially minoritized adult learners who are pursuing postsecondary education and training as a path to re-employment, better jobs, and higher incomes.

Collaborating to Create Change: How El Paso Community College Improved the Readiness of Its Incoming Students Through Achieving the Dream

This report describes how this Achieving the Dream college collaborated with the University of Texas at El Paso and 12 local independent school districts in the El Paso area to develop and bring to scale an improved process for helping high school students prepare for entry into college.
