Performance Measures for Improving California Community Colleges: Issues and Options

Community colleges in California are currently operating under multiple sets of performance measures. In California and across the country, there is a trend toward devising more performance measures and toward using these measures in ways that have important consequences for local providers of education and training, including using performance to allocate funding. There is every reason to think that the current movement for accountability and the requirements for performance measures in both federal and state legislation will be permanent, rather than temporary reforms that can be safely ignored.
