Recent work has focused on the academic linkages (or lack thereof) between high school and college, with a focus on better connecting these parts of the educational system.
In this chapter, Thomas Bailey reviews three dominant strategies—remediation, dual enrollment, and the high school/college alignment movement—citing available research on these approaches and delineating what remains to be learned.
