Kaylee Converse is a senior research assistant on the Program Choice, Applied Learning, and Unlocking Opportunity projects. She conducts qualitative research on students’ experiences, community college participation in reform efforts, and equitable post-graduation success. She is especially interested in the impact that legislation related to workforce development has on community college programming and student career outlooks.
Prior to working at CCRC, Converse was completing her M.S.Ed at the University of Pennsylvania, GSE through the Independent School Teaching Residency program. She completed her residency at a Massachusetts high school, teaching history, economics, and social entrepreneurship. Her research practitioner focus consisted of the use of authentic assessments and project based learning within economics to make the courses more accessible and equitable for all learners. Additionally, she re-designed the economics curriculum to incorporate a framework of new systems thinking, allowing students to think more critically about 21st century issues. Converse became passionate about educational equity through her undergraduate studies at St. Lawrence University and her experience as a first-generation college student.
