Nicole Mora is a research assistant at CCRC, where she assists on a project pertaining to first-generation students' support networks and retention. She is a first-year master’s student in the Sociology and Education program at Teachers College, Columbia University. Nicole recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Human Development and Family Science and a double minor in LatinX Studies & Sexuality Studies. She is a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, Point Scholar, and a Frederick Douglass Global Fellow. During her time at UNC, Nicole was heavily involved in Dr. Dorothy Espelage’s RAVE (Research Addressing Violence in Education) Lab. Her research interests surround first-generation students' transition to postsecondary education as well as LGBTQ+ students' identity formation and belonging.
