James Jacobs’ book, Moving a Community College Forward, traces his journey from 1960s student activist to president of Macomb Community College. In this book talk, he will provide an insider’s view on the role of community colleges as essential engines of economic mobility and civic life to promote social good and on his personal reflections on community college leadership and commitment to research to benefit the social good. Distinguished panelists and leaders in the field will reflect on Jacobs’ book and implications for community colleges moving forward.
Co-sponsored by EERC, CCRC and NCWE, this engaging conversation will dive into Jacobs’ book—all while capturing the rise of the community college as one of America’s most important (and underappreciated) educational innovations.
