Juan Carlos Calcagno is Researcher at Mathematica Policy Research and Senior Research Associate at CCRC. Dr. Calcagno received his Ph.D. in Economics and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and his B.A. in Economics from Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina. He received a dissertation grant from the Spencer Foundation and fellowships from the Organization of American States and the Teachers College Office of Policy and Research.


His research interest includes the transition from high school to college and postsecondary access and attainment, both from student and institutional perspectives. His current research includes evaluations of programs and policies on remediation, dual enrollment, affirmative action, and financial aid. He previous studies on the college experience of older community college students have been published in Research in Higher Education and Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis. He has also contributed his statistical expertise to CCRC projects on the institutional effects on community college student outcomes and institutional graduation rates.
