January 2016–June 2018

This project will examine stackable sub-baccalaureate credentials within three state higher education systems. Given the pressures on colleges to offer these credentials and the need for skills accumulation by workers, we expect the results of this study to be an important contribution to the discussion on the design of postsecondary credentials and their impact on the labor market.

November 2015–December 2016

This project investigated Texas’ transfer outcomes, transfer policies, and community college students’ decisions about transfer to shed light on incentives for desirable student-level and institution-level transfer-related behaviors and policies that might influence those behaviors.

October 2015–June 2019

CCRC is examining whether American Honors students are more likely than similar students to persist and transfer.

September 2015–August 2016

CCRC explored the pathways of community college students who eventually transfer and earn bachelor’s degrees in computer science fields, including their enrollment patterns, transfer behaviors, and time to completion.

May 2011–June 2012

CCRC and JBL Associates evaluated Tennessee's efforts to increase structure in community college programs and strengthen connections between community colleges and adult career centers.

October 2014–September 2016

The goal of this project was to encourage and enable colleges and universities to replicate highly effective, scaled transfer practices that substantially increase associate and bachelor’s degree completion across fields, with a special focus on STEM.

July 2014–March 2020

In partnership with MDRC, CCRC is conducting an evaluation of CUNY Start, a pre-matriculation program designed to help students with substantial needs in basic skills to succeed in college.

June 2014–May 2016

CCRC was part of a national technical assistance team that worked with two-year colleges in Arkansas to improve student outcomes by creating more highly structured and educationally coherent pathways to student end goals.

January 2015–December 2016

With this research project, CCRC analyzed student progression into and through program pathways and measured the labor market returns to particular programs at the City Colleges of Chicago.

July 2014–December 2024

CAPR carries out research on innovative approaches to remedial assessment, placement, and instruction in collaboration with social policy research organization MDRC and scholars at Stanford, UC Davis, and Vanderbilt.

October 2013–September 2016

CCRC, along with Complete College America, worked with two- and four-year public system leaders in two states—Indiana and Tennessee—in partnership with other institutional stakeholders, to develop and implement guided pathways reforms across each system.

May 2013–June 2014

This project examined the process and challenges of implementing a revised student success course at CUNY's Bronx Community college and evaluated the outcomes of participating students.

June 2013–December 2016

This project examined, documented, and assessed the coherence of existing place-based collaborations seeking to facilitate pathways for postsecondary education and workforce preparedness for immigrants, veterans, and formerly incarcerated individuals.

January 2002–December 2003

CCRC reviewed the literature on college credit programs for high school students: dual enrollment, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Tech Prep, and middle college high schools.

May 2012–November 2012

CCRC partnered with Mathematica Policy Research to provide evaluation-related technical assistance to Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) grantees.

February 2012–February 2013

CCRC studied dual enrollment in Tennessee and several peer states to generate a set of policy recommendations for consideration by Tennessee policymakers during the 2013 legislative session.

March 2012–August 2016

CCRC examined placement exam costs in an urban community college system with centralized assessment and placement policies and a statewide system with variation across institutions.

March 2012–October 2018

CCRC is examining early assessment and transition curricula in four states and conducting a rigorous evaluation of the outcomes of students who participate in selected transition curricula in two states.

March 2012–January 2021

CCRC is assessing the effectiveness of technology-based advising to assist students in choosing careers, programs, and course sequences and helping to develop guidelines for their use.

March 2012–August 2016

CCRC partnered with community college agencies to extend analyses of student progression, course-taking patterns, transfer, and completion at the college level to the state or system level.
