Spotlight Session: Redesign of Remediation

Date and Time: April 25, 2017 8:30–9:45 AM
Location: New Orleans, LA
Venue: Hilton New Orleans Riverside Hotel | Grand Salon D, Section 21

This spotlight session focused on the results of developmental education in America's community and technical colleges. It is, in part, related to the emergence of a culture of inquiry, evidence, and accountability since 2003. The lack of student success overall, the disproportionate impact on low-income students and students of color, and early efforts to improve outcomes have led to an imperative for the redesign of programs to prepare students to complete gateway (college-level) courses leading to completion of credentials, successful transfer, and entry into the workforce.
