Venue: Teachers College, Columbia University | Joyce Berger Cowin Auditorium

From day one, the Obama–Biden Administration has valued community colleges as a catalyst for economic development and a cornerstone of upward mobility for all Americans. For the last seven years, Dr. Jill Biden, who continues to teach full-time as a community college professor, has used her unique role to lift up community colleges: America's best kept secret. She discussed why President Obama's America's College Promise and programs such as apprenticeships, dual enrollment, and articulation are not only the right thing to do for our students, but the smart thing to do for the future competitiveness of our country.

Dr. Biden's keynote presentation was followed by a panel discussion titled "The Future of Community Colleges," with Johanna Duncan-Poitier, Senior Vice Chancellor for Community Colleges and the Education Pipeline at The State University of New York (SUNY); Michael S. McPherson, President of the Spencer Foundation; and James B. Milliken, Chancellor of The City University of New York (CUNY). CCRC Director Thomas Bailey moderated the panel.
