COVID-19 Impacts on the Labor Market and Recent Policy Changes to the Unemployment Insurance System

In this session, CCRC Senior Research Scholar Jordan Matsudaira discussed the current and anticipated impacts of the COVID-19 crisis on labor markets in the region and how federal policy changes have altered the benefits available to impacted workers. Among other topics, he explained how a public health crisis turned into an unemployment crisis, whether policy responses to the economic downturn have been effective, and what job seekers can do moving forward.
