Choosing Community College: High-Achieving Students' Perspectives

Date and Time: March 29, 2019 9:30 a.m.–10:45 a.m.
Location: San Diego, CA
Venue: Westin San Diego | Opal

This presentation covered a qualitative study exploring why academically high-achieving students choose to enroll in community college. In contrast to the popular discussion around "college undermatching," most interviewees felt community college entry was the best match for their current situation and goals. We discuss four considerations underlying students' choice of college.
