Pell Grants as Performance-Based Aid? An Examination of Satisfactory Academic Progress Requirements

Date and Time: April 17, 2015 8:15–10:15 AM
Location: Chicago, IL
Venue: Swissotel | Event Centre First Level, Zurich F

This session presented research on performance-based funding and academic probation to consider the potential implications of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policies on student outcomes. To understand the prevalence of SAP failure, presenters used state administrative data with term-by-term measures of Pell receipt, student grades, and attempted and earned credits to take a closer look at SAP failure and patterns of student persistence.
