Adapting Lesson Study for Community College Mathematics Instruction

The Community College Research Center and Education Northwest are adapting the Lesson Study model of professional development for developmental math courses at three community colleges in Oregon. Lesson Study is a structured, collaborative intervention that gives instructors a framework for actively investigating how to improve learning in their classrooms. This presentation provided an overview of Lesson Study and preliminary findings from qualitative research on faculty’s initial perceptions and experiences in the adaptation.
