How Community Colleges Can Reach Obama's Goals

In an opinion piece published in Inside Higher Ed, CCRC's Davis Jenkins and Thomas Bailey argue that to help achieve President Obama's ambitious goal of increasing the number of postsecondary completers by 5 million in 10 years, community colleges will have to change the way they do business. Jenkins and Bailey draw on recent research by CCRC and others to identify changes that could help bring about the needed improvements in college productivity. They maintain that the American Graduation Initiative legislation making its way through Congress would provide a solid framework and positive incentives for the necessary reforms.
