Student Aid Policy Recommendations Receive Broad Press Coverage

SEPTEMBER 19, 2008—A new report, “Fulfilling the Commitment: Recommendations for Reforming Federal Student Aid,” issued by the Rethinking Student Aid study group--an independent team of policy experts, researchers, and higher education professionals convened by the College Board--calls for a set of policies that would fundamentally change how students and their families think about and prepare for college.

The report’s comprehensive proposals are aimed at simplifying the federal student aid system, improving the federal loan process, developing a federal savings plan for low-income families, and rewarding states and institutions that support student success.

The release of the report has been covered widely by the national press and by the education dailies. The article in The Chronicle of Higher Education includes comments by CCRC director Thomas Bailey, who is a member of the study group.
