CCRC Director Thomas Bailey Appears on CNN Program 'Lou Dobbs Tonight'

On Wednesday, November 15th, CNN's Lou Dobbs Tonight featured a special report on how "America is falling dangerously behind other nations when it comes to adequately educating its middle class." In his interview, Dr. Bailey elaborated on the fact that while American elite research universities are still the best in the world, several other countries now have higher percentages of their young adult population with college degrees.  His commentary reflected the value of college degrees in the labor market, the inequality that exists in access to college, and the gaps among racial and ethnic and income groups in college attainment.  Many countries now see community colleges as a potential model for workforce development and for promoting access to college.
